Embodying Spectrum’s Principles
My role on the investment side helps me to coach plan sponsors and participants to not make emotional reactions to short term volatility. We know that in order to realize high long-term returns, we are likely to experience periods of low or negative returns. Helping clients to see that long term outcome is about coaching, historical research, and patience. I also focus on the long term with client decisions. I do and recommend what I believe to be the right thing for clients, knowing there might be more work on the short term to reach a favorable long term outcome and relationship.
One of the biggest issues with the financial services industry is the ability to serve small financial advisory relationships. Many financial advisors want clients to have over $100k before they will enter an advisory relationship. But how does an individual amass $100k? Through my role at Spectrum Investment Advisors, organizations hire us to work with their participants through their 401(k) plans. Many of these participants still need help to reach their goals. Every day I am able to help these participants get closer to reaching their goals, outside of where the traditional financial advisory system is operating.
